This spalted maple bowl has been turned on a foot-powered pole lathe. This form of lathe was used by the Vikings in the 9th century and continued to be used up until the 1940s. 

Turning with a pole lathe results in fantastic patterns being left in the wood by the specialist tools. 

This wonderful piece of maple wood is full of delightful colours and patterns. It came from a residential tree cut down in Fitchburg, WI.

The natural warmth of wood makes it a pleasure to eat from. It has been sealed with food safe linseed oil. Wash by hand with dish soap and hot water. 

It's the perfect size for enjoying soups or cereal from. 

This handmade bowl is 7" wide, 2" tall. The wooden bowl holds approximately 14 fl. oz (420ml).

The price does not include the spoon.
