Learn how to carve a spoon from freshly cut local wood.

During this two-day workshop participants will learn the skills required to carve a spoon from freshly felled wood:

  • selecting and sourcing the proper wood

  • understand grain and grain direction

  • how the design of a spoon influences its function

  • safe use of a carving hatchet

  • the knife grips involved in woodworking projects

  • the safe use of a hook knife

  • tool sharpening and maintenance

No previous experience is necessary. All tools and materials will be provided. Just wear comfortable clothing and bring a packed lunch. Water, coffee and snacks will be provided.
